Music Reflection

18 Jan:
Today Mr.Herry gave us a warm welcome towards this term in music and he also explained on what topic Herry we are going to be assessed on this term, and Mr.Herry told us the Assessment criteria. Further more more Mr.Harry played a song with Mr.John (Bunda). For this term I chose to play the instrument flute.

20 Jan

Today we were told by our teacher to make a brief description which was to make a group slide presentation, and of course an individual booklet. I was assigned to the chinese traditional music group .



25 Jan
Today in class, Mr.Sadrakh gave us a task which was to brainstorm/outline the points we are going to include/do for our asian music slide presentation. Because the assessment of making the slide presentation had to be in groups, like I said before I was in the Chinese group along with my friends which were Daniel, Ayush, Omar and Gabriel.

Music Instrument Class: Today I brought my instrument(Flute) in order Mr.Harry taught us how to blow the flute nicely.

27 Jan
Today Arsa and I completed the assessment which was, to sing a unique yet traditional song named sakura which came from Japan.

Music Instrument Class: Today since I was still having some difficulties for blowing the flute, the whole class practiced on how to blow it.

1 Feb
Today we watched as the japanese group presented confidently and clearly. Further more this day is the very day that my group presented about the Chinese Traditional Music. In my opinion, the presentation turned out to be a disaster because of Ayush. This disaster occurred because we had a quite miss understanding between me and him about 'who does what' .

3 Feb
Today, the indian and korean group presented in a powerpoint about their traditional music. Further more we were told to copy the C major scale and also Mr.Sadrakh explained about the mentioned scale. What made the korean unique than other groups, is that they showed a short/brief video about korean traditional music to show us how interesting korean music is.

Music Instrument: In class we learned how to Hold a flute and how to play the note A.

8 Feb
Today was the submission of the individual booklet which unfortunately, I did not bring today. Mr Sadrakh told us that if we submit it tomorrow, it will be considered as a late HW which he had to give me a -1. And not to mention that he explained about the 3 types of pentatonic scales. Because of that he ordered us to make a song with one of the 3 types of pentatonic scales which had to consist of 16bars. (Due Wednesday)
Musical Instrument: We practiced how to blow because somehow we all still had difficulties on how to blow the flute.

10 Feb
Today, as we finished our homework which was to make a 16 bar melody. I chose to use pentatonic 1 for my melody. Further more we were given HW, which was to make a 32 bar melody by next week monday.

15 Feb
Today, since we were finished with our assignent, we discussed about them and Mr.Sadrakh played one of the best chosen songs among all of the students in 7E among them was I. Mr.Sadrakh chose my melody, and played my melody in front of the class. Although my melody sounds rather ridiculous , I am proud to make my own song.
Musical Instrument: We still practiced on how to play the flute

17 Feb
Today, At class we did one of our main assessments which was to finalize and copy our own song creation to the assessment paper within 25minutes. Not only we did the following, Mr.Sadrakh explained on how to make a blog for inserting, our regular reflections.


22 Feb
At this very day, most of the students from each music category was asked to play/perform Mr. Sadrakh's melody. Unfortunately, I did not bring my flute that day because of family matters. Because of that I was not able to perform.

24 Feb
According to my notes, today was when Mr.Sadrakh taught us about the G-Sharp Scale and of course the Natural Scale. Mr. Sadrakh wrote the mentioned scales on the white board and we copied it.

8 March
Today in class, we discussed on how to convert a c major scale to any other scale such as the following:
-E Major Scale
or
- A Major Scale
and Mr.Sadrakh appointed most of the students from each instrument group to play a song as a rehearsal for our test for the next following monday.


10 March
Today in class, Mr.Sadrakh ordered us to perform/practice our own song to our respective classmates with our assigned instruments. But, unfortunately I did not bring my flute.
15 March
Today was the day, when we were told to perform a classical song or our own melody infront of the class with our assigned instruments. Overall, I thought I did qute well on performing a classical song which was "Merry had the little lamb".
17 March
Unfortunately, today was the when Mr.Sadrakh was absent. Because of that, class was replaced with two teachers (Mr.Harry and Mr.John) both explained about the excursion trip to Taman Mini and also assigned us to groups. Such as Group A, B, C, D and E. In this case, Iwas in group B which consists of Me, Beatrix, Ayush, Natasha and Agung Arsa.

5 April
Today, was the first day when we came to school after our statisfied term break holiday. In music class, we were told a friendly introduction on what we are going to do for this term. For instance, We will have an Assesment that will be conducted in May. Our assesment will be assesed on how we play Beatrix's melody as a group cooperatively and smoothly.
7 April
Today, we reviewed on how to convert notes to A, B and so on so forth so that we may apply that technique whenever we need to convert a scale to another scale. Further more, we were asked to practice my groups melody for the assesment in May.
14 April
Today, we were given a brief yet understandable explanation about what are triads what are their functions. Further more, we learned about their specific notes.
19 April
According to my notes, today we learned about the different types of intervals and how to sort out majors and minor notes.
21 April
In music class, we Mr.Sadrakh gave told us a thorough explanation about chords and how to convert them to other scale's. For instance, the G major scal or even the F major scale. More over, we learned how to determin if a certain scale is a minor or a major.
3 May
In class, we were told to present our songs in a certain group. In my case, my group members are Arsa, Beatrix, Natasha, Ayush and we played a melody created by Beatrix.
5 May
Today, we learnt and discussed about different and traditional types of asian music from different countries. The countries are the following:
-Japan
-Korea
-India
-China
10 May
In music class,we had a written assesment about all the topics that we had discussud ever since term 4 began. The topics were the following:
-Chords
-Triads
-Asian Music
-Scales
-Intervals
12 May
In music class, we had another test which covers the topic about Asian Music

17 May
In music class, Mr.Sadrakh told us to display our progress on the group music presentation in front of the class. He says that this is compulsory in order to achieve a perfect score.

19 May
Today, we did the exact similar action as two days ago
